Tart and Tangy

This is the card I thought I would make for one of the swaps I have joined but have changed my mind and won't use this one now.


Basically all I have used here are the SU Tart & Tangy set and the Summer Picnic DS paper. The fruits have been clear embossed and raised on Dimensionals.


Card: Whisper White, Black
Ink: Only Orange, Real Red, Certainly Celery and Old Olive
Stamps: Tart & Tangy and Occasional Greetings


Sending out cheer up thoughts to Leigh today who is not well and frustrated because she cannot get into her card making!! Get better soon Leigh!!

Fun and Fast Notes

I was thumbing through the US Stampin' Up Catalogue this morning for inspiration as my thinking powers are nil today. I came across a card which called out Make Me, I think because of the colours and also because I have never tried a background with punched out circles on it. So with using the same design and colours, this is what I made.


The background is stamped with a stamp from Boho Backgrounds - now that is definitely a MUST HAVE set for everyone. Every stamp in that set is gorgeous and ohh so useful! We don't have the arrow punch here so I just cut one out and it looks OK.

Kristina's Colour Challenge #11

So many other things I should be doing but when I saw Kristina's latest challenge, I had to have a try! It is such fun to use these colour combos.

I have used my much loved SU Boho Backgrounds for the flowers and some background. Polka dots stamp was used on the grey background and also the Old Olive stem. The Wording comes from the Hostess set Spring Solitude. I dyed white grosgrain ribbon with Old Olive ink for the "leaves".

Now it will be good to see what others have done with these colours.

Bud Basics

I set out to do a colour challenge and got sidetracked cos I wanted to try the resist background! Stampin' Up! Purely Pomegranite was used for the card base and for stamping the big flowers. I used Pretty in Pink for brayering the background.

Four stamp sets used here - Bud Basics for the big flowers, Boho Backgrounds for the background flowers, Little Pieces for the clear circles and Occasional Greetings for the wording.

The centres of the flowers are gold embossed and the bottom white edge has been scalloped with the round corner punch.

Fun and Fast Notes!

Here I go - practising the watercolouring but not sure I am improving LOL. Both cards use images from the new Fun and Fast Stampin' Up! set. It has perfect stamps with which to practise watercolouring!

The top card also uses the sets Looks Like Spring and Much Appreciated. The ribbon is Pretty in Pink.

The second card has Wild Wasabi as the base card, the patterned paper is from the East Coast Prep pack - [very lovely!!], the ribbon is the new double stitched Wild Wasabi, the punched flower is from the punch Spring Flower Bouquet and the little centre of the flower is a stamp from a US hostess set called Make It Count. Other colours used here are Real Red, More Mustard and Tempting Turquoise. I am so in love with the new In Colours!

From tomorrow, I am house sitting for my son and DIL while they go to Brisbane for a concert. They will come home on Tuesday next week so there will be no pictures here for a few days. I will take some images to colour - would love to take my entire stamping collection LOL!

Both Way Blossoms

I wanted to make a quick card so I could try out my new Nestabilities set and was inspired by a card of Andrea Walford's. Thank you Andrea.

Even though there are six layers on this card, it does not take long to make. The flowers come from the Stampin' Up! Hostess set Both Way Blossoms and the wording comes from the SU set Warmest Regards.

The Nestablilities dies are great and were very easy to use through my Big Shot - I have not yet used the embossing part of them.

Just a RRAK today!

I had a few cards to make today for different things and this is one of them - a RRAK! Just very simple and maybe hard to see but I used the Cuttlebug folder thank you on the black piece. The background is stamped with SU Soft Swirls background which is no longer in our catalogue.

Wild Zebra

Today I made this card for a friend Karen's challenge on her group where we had to make a male themed card with pink on it somewhere! I CASEd this card from an old Stampin' Up! catalogue - just changed the colours and image. I liked the idea of using the multi-coloured squares around the image.

For these I used the tiny SU square punch and scraps of card. The main image is raised on foam tape.

Beate's Sketch Challenge #14

I should be doing other things but couldn't resist having a try at Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. You can see it here. Beate's blog is always really interesting and she has some great tutorials there as well. I am not sure how she finds the time to do all that she does!!

Best Blossoms

A very simple card today as I am doing all those horrible chores like ironing and packing! I am going to Rockhampton tomorrow - about two hours' drive from here and will be home on Thursday I hope.

Here I have simply stamped the leaves and then stamped and embossed the flowers in white over the top. Then I have shaded around the images and wiped off any ink on the embossing with a tissue.
