Kristina's challenge #37

I thought I would have a go at this one before I go shopping. Just letting the road dry a little. We had more nice rain last night - hard to believe it is so wet this January - more often than not this month is dreadfully hot and dry for us.


These colours for Kristina's challenge this week are lovely and I didn't find it hard at all to think of something to do. This little owl is the cutest!

Kristina's colour challenge #35

Maybe I am too late to join in the challenge this time but it was fun to use the colour combo anyway!


These are lovely colours together and I substituted the SU Baja Breeze for Cool Carribean which is a retired In Colour but I still love it!


The stamp sets used are Ocean Commotion and Lots of Thoughts.

Kristina's challenge #32

I was totally challenged by these colours but was determined to make something with them and even though I am not happy still with using Very Vanilla and Whisper White together, I am glad I did try. Thank you Kristina for the great challenges and I DO love these colours LOL.

I used a Nestabilities die for the vanilla scalloped layer, the new square scalloped SU punch for the top layer and the new scallop edge SU punch for the piece down the side.

The base card has been stamped with a stamp from Boho Backgrounds which I thought would complement the little round flowers on the red image!

Now I can say I have used something from all my newest sets - love them all but of course particularly the flower ones! Now to use some of the papers - they are so beautiful.

Kristina's colour challenge #31

You can tell I love these colour challenges!! Good for me as I have always been colour challenged! The colours Kristina has chosen this week are so rich and beautiful and I thought immediately of this set called Eastern Blooms which is in the new SU mini catalogue.

This card is a CASE of one made by LeeAnn. I do love her choice of colours better - we don't have these here yet. Thank you LeeAnn for the inspiration. Sorry I cannot find the card again now on her blog but it is beautiful!

The wording on my card comes from a set called Life Definitions. It is a great set and the wording stamps so clearly.

Kristina's #30 colour challenge

Well this one was quite a challenge to me but wanted to try it anyway! I just love that colour scheme on the bed linen - it looks so cool and refreshing!

I have used the SU Artfully Asian set for the main image and the wording, also the top part of the background. The bottom part of the background has been stamped with Weathered and I have used Itty Bitty Backgrounds to dot around the main image.

The little flowers have Crystal Effects on them for dimension and I have used Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon.

After tossing it over for days now, finally today, Karen, Leigh and I have booked our airfares and accommodation for the SU convention next year in Canberra!! I am all excited already as it seems so long ago since I have been away on a pleasure trip - probably the last was this year's Convention in Brisbane in April!

It will be so good to meet up with old and new friends and join in all the hype of the two days! Wonder how freezing it will be in Canberra at that time of year??

Kristina's challenge #26

Here are my two entries for Kristina's colour challenge this week. When I saw the colours, I immediately thought of a baby card but ended up using flowers!! I have seen quite a few cards using the scallop punch for flowers and really don't know who thought of the original idea. Karen has a lovely card on her blog done in a similar way.


The other card has the block background which is always nice I think. I used DSP papers from Summer Picnic and Apple Cider packs and from the Palette O' Prints that was a SU promotion earlier. The sets I used for this card are Its Your Birthday and Live Your Dream.


Colours were Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Whisper White.

And here is #2 card for Kristina's challenge

This is the second card for Kristina's challenge this week. It is a miserable day here so just nice to be card making. I decided to use a set I haven't used for a while so went with Time Well Spent.

The wording comes from Its Your Birthday set and I have stamped the Ruby Red base card with a stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds set in the same colour. You can see I have used the same wide Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon as it is the only ribbon we have in any of the challenge colours.

Now to go looking at other people's challenge cards - the best part!!!

Kristina's challenge #25

I love the colour combo that Kristina has chosen for this week's challenge and of course immediately thought of flowers! I must remember there are oodles of other stamps besides flower ones LOL. Then I was tossing up whether to make this one up as a birthday card for a younger child as I think those colours lend themselves to little ones.

The colours look a bit off in the picture - possibly because it is a very dull day here for taking photos. The sail boat has been cut out and stuck on the So Saffron card and both that and the wording have been raised with Dimensionals. Because I have no Ruby Red brads or eyelets - grrr, I substituted with little punched out washers.

Now wonder what I can do with these colours for a flower card ................!

A big thank you to all who sent me good wishes and thoughts whilst I was away with my Dad in hospital. He is home again much improved but still has to get more strength and mobility back. We all hope that can happen. It was so nice to have so many people think of me through this worrying time. Michelle, I would love to know how your father is doing now.

I made this little card using the colours that Kristina had for her last challenge which of course is long finished but I love these colours together so had to have a go!

And here is #2 for Kristina's challenge

There are other things I should be doing but decided to challenge myself again with these colours. Again with flowers but a different look to my first card. Here I have used Bud Basics and Occasional Greetings and the flower centres have Dazzling Diamonds on them. The wording has been stamped with Bravo Burgundy and the background is Chocolate Chip - very hard to see the dark colours in the picture.

Now will go have a look at the beauties that others have made! So the chores still don't get done LOL.

Kristina's Colour Challenge #23

In between finishing off some embroidered cards, I made this card for Kristina's challenge this week. I cannot help trying these combos though I must admit using all these colours together was a challenge for me!

The burgundy centres of the flowers were run through the polka dot CB embossing folder and the Pumpkin Pie background has also been done with a CB embossing folder. The background layers are Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie and the ribbon is Bravo Burgundy.

Stampin' Up! sets used were Big Bloom and Lots of Thoughts. I look forward to seeing how others put these colours together - all beautiful colours!

Kristina's Colour challenge #22

I am finding it very hard to upload pictures to here today and really wanted to show the picture of the shower curtain that Kristina took this week's colours from. Isn't it just gorgeous! The colours are Bravo Burgundy, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Soft Sky and Whisper White.

I am not at all happy with how I finished off this card - I did learn a lesson though - don't try finishing a card while you are on the phone to your mother LOL. My thoughts were trying to be in two places - doesn't work! But I couldn't get away from her and wanted to keep card making!

The card is quite self explanatory - I dyed the white taffeta ribbon with Regal Rose and the soft sky paper is from the Spring Break DSP pack - beautiful!

Kristinas Challenge #20

This week's Colour Inspiration Challenge from Kristina uses such pretty colours! I used Pretty In Pink as the substitute for the pretty In Colour which we don't have here.


I used the set Always from the Spring Mini and the wording comes from So Many Sayings. Used the corner rounder for the scallop edge and the 1 1/4 inch punch for the circles.

Kristina's Colour Challenge #19

It is nice to read that Kristina is feeling better again and able to put up another Colour Inspiration Challenge for us. I used SU Summer Sun as my colour of choice - love this colour with black!

I have stamped the Canvas background stamp on the yellow but it is hard to see here. The elephant is from the Wild About You set and the wording is from a set not available here. The ribbon is one of the beautiful taffeta ones - they are so soft and easy to use!

I would love to look at lots of the other entries but my download limit is well used up for this month so I will just sneak a look at a few over the coming days!

Kristina's Colour Challenge#18

I always love to try out Kristina's Colour Inspiration Challenge and this one is #18. I must say although I love these colours, I always have problems with thinking that Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie go together. Now I have mine finished, I will go see what everyone else has created - bet they are all beautiful and I will wonder why my hangup on those two colours!

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #13

Amazing that I love these colours so much and yet am not happy with what I did here. It is always fun to participate in Kristina's challenges though and even more fun to look afterwards to see what everyone else has done.

Think mostly this is self explanatory - I watercoloured the flower with blender pen and inkpads.

Kristina's Colour Inspiration #12

Here is the card I have done for Kristina's latest challenge!! And a challenge it was too for me! They are lovely colours but I found it hard to think of a nice design using them.

I was going to use white ribbon on it but decided it would all look too busy and overdone so hopefully it looks OK. I have used the SU stamp set In The Wild and an embossing folder from Cuttlebug for the background layer. I have used four sizes of circle punches as well.

I would love to know what you all think about this one and I look forward to seeing all the other challenge cards!

And another challenge card!

As I had a birthday card to make today, I decided to go with Kristina's colour challenge again.

I am still getting myself used to the wide grosgrain ribbon. I always think it looks too bulky and in this case, I feel it has unbalanced the card. Does anyone else think this way??

This design was a weekend sketch of Beate's and it was ideal to use the SU Basics Outline wheel on. I have dry embossed the lines top and bottom using my Scor-Pal and the wording is raised with foam tape.

Kristina's Colour Challenge #11

So many other things I should be doing but when I saw Kristina's latest challenge, I had to have a try! It is such fun to use these colour combos.

I have used my much loved SU Boho Backgrounds for the flowers and some background. Polka dots stamp was used on the grey background and also the Old Olive stem. The Wording comes from the Hostess set Spring Solitude. I dyed white grosgrain ribbon with Old Olive ink for the "leaves".

Now it will be good to see what others have done with these colours.

Kristina's Colour Challenge

Even though I love these colours, I thought they would be challenging to place together so I had my first try at Kristina's colour inspiration challenge this weekend. I am not sure what possessed me to make a baby card with them but guess it was the Bashful Blue and So Saffron that persuaded me!

The base card is So Saffron with an embossed Old Olive strip and then the Striped ribbon. The lower section is stamped with a stamp from Boho Backgrounds [love this set] The bigger scallop circle is Not Quite Navy and the the SU scallop punch is used for the smaller circle. I have pieced the little ship from Nursery Necessities - the spotted paper is from the SU DS paper Jersey Shore [yum!!]
