An Oriental kind of card

This morning I have been going through old stamping magazines and tearing out pages that still interested me and then they go into the rubbish. It is interesting to see the styles of stamping changing over the years as in the magazines. This is the first clean out of magazines I have done in eight years sooo I have quite a stash!

It is so dreadfully hot and humid here today - so the air con is on and I made this card in the cool! I used the sketch that Keesh put up for a challenge this week for the Stampin' Up! group. My dear friend Bethel showed me how to use this Lucys Stamps image like this and I loved how she did it.

I masked a circle on to white card and using a Lucys shadow stamp, I stamped all over the white card with SU Brocade Blue, Sage Shadow and then overstamped a little with Tempting Turquoise. Then using the reverse circle mask, I stamped with Barely Banana, Ruby Red and a touch of Apricot Appeal.

The image is stamped with SU Chocolate Chip and layered on to Cameo Coral. There is a little dragonfly charm in the centre of the wording circle.

Stamps: Riveting [retired SU set], SU Weathered background and two of Lucys Stamps
Card: Apricot Appeal, Taken with Teal, Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, Cameo Coral
Ink: SU Brocade Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red

I've never made a oriental style card. Yours is fabulous! Great job on cleaning out your magazine stash. I too have a stash and I have an obsession with different magazines. I just recently got rid of a bunch of magazines too.

This is an amazing card. I still don't quite know how you made all the colors on the paper look like strokes, but it looks fantastic.

Hi Jean,
Thanks for the great idea with the magazines. I always see a few things I really like but hold on to the entire magazine. No room for that anymore.
